Dr. Luis Arturo Ruvalcaba Castellón is a pioneering figure in reproductive medicine throughout Latin America. As the Founder and Director of Instituto Mexicano de Infertilidad (IMI) in Guadalajara, and Medical Director of LIV Fertility Center, he has spent more than 25 years advancing fertility care for patients across Mexico and the broader Spanish-speaking world.
Dr. Ruvalcaba holds dual board certifications from the Mexican Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (#4381) and Reproductive Biology (#150). He is a full ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) member and has delivered over 300 invited lectures and courses internationally.
He achieved two historic milestones in Latin American reproductive medicine: performing the first ovary transplant in the region, and achieving the first live birth from vitrified (frozen) eggs in Latin America. These achievements placed his program among the most technically advanced fertility centers in the Western Hemisphere.
Dr. Ruvalcaba is a Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University of Guadalajara, where he trains the next generation of reproductive specialists. He is a specialist in in vitro maturation (IVM) — a technique that allows eggs to be retrieved and matured in the laboratory without heavy ovarian stimulation, making IVF more accessible and reducing the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
