Fertility Specialist & Director, Ceifer Biobanco — IVI Fertility, Spain
Dr. Candela Gallardo graduated in Medicine from the University of Malaga (2002–2009), where she also undertook an exchange internship at the prestigious Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin in Germany. She completed her Obstetrics & Gynaecology residency at Agencia Sanitaria Costa del Sol in Marbella (2010–2015), one of the most competitive training programmes in southern Spain, before undertaking intensive subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology at the Hospital Virgen de las Nieves in Granada.
From 2015 to 2018, Dr. Gallardo served as Medical Director and Reproductive Endocrinology specialist at MasVida Reproducción in Seville, overseeing the clinic's full IVF and egg donation programme. She subsequently joined IVI Fertility — part of the IVIRMA Global network, the world's largest assisted reproduction group with over 80 clinics across 13 countries — where she practises at IVI Málaga.
In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Gallardo serves as Director of Ceifer Biobanco, a certified Spanish egg bank that recruits, screens, and vitrifies donor oocytes for use in donor egg IVF cycles across Spain and internationally. This makes her one of the few European specialists with deep expertise across both the clinical and organisational dimensions of egg donation. Her writing for Fertlo focuses on evidence-based guidance for patients considering egg donation, donor egg IVF, and elective egg freezing.
Dr. Gallardo is based in Málaga, Spain, on the Costa del Sol. She is drawn to reproductive medicine by the profound impact fertility treatment has on people's lives, and is particularly committed to making egg donation more transparent and less intimidating for patients navigating it for the first time. Outside the clinic she enjoys hiking in the Sierra Nevada and exploring Spain's diverse regional cuisines.
