Dr. Hannah Ní Bhriain Russell trained in medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and subsequently built her clinical career in Norway, where she has practised for more than two decades. She worked for many years in the IVF department at OUS Ullevål — one of Norway's leading university hospitals — before moving to Livio Oslo, Scandinavia's oldest fertility clinic. Following Livio Oslo's integration into CMedical in 2025, she joined CMedical's Majorstuen clinic in Oslo, where she continues to see patients for IVF, egg freezing, and reproductive medicine.
Her particular clinical and academic focus is Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI), a condition affecting women whose ovaries stop functioning normally before the age of 40. She contributed to the Norwegian Gynecological Association's national guidelines on POI and has authored professional-facing articles on its diagnosis and management. This expertise gives her writing a depth and precision that is rare in patient-facing fertility content.
Dr. Ní Bhriain Russell is a Medical Advisor to the ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) Certification Committee for Nurses — the body responsible for establishing professional standards for fertility nurses across Europe. She conducts consultations in both Norwegian and English, and writes for Fertlo to make evidence-based clinical knowledge accessible to a broader international patient audience.
Dr. Ní Bhriain Russell grew up in Ireland and relocated to Norway in 2005, drawn by the country's strong public health system and collaborative approach to reproductive medicine. She lives in Oslo with her family and remains committed to bridging the gap between complex clinical science and the patients who need to understand it most. When not in the clinic, she is an avid hiker and enjoys the Norwegian outdoors in every season.
